Mugachi Khichadi

Ingredients:

 

 

1)      Combine rice and dal in bowl.

2)      Add water, and let soak for 15 minutes.

3)      Drain completely, and save water in separate container.

4)      Put 4 tablespoons oil in pot.

5)      Add heeng.

6)      Add mustard seeds.

7)      Turn down heat, add garlic, garam masala

8)      Add turmeric.

9)      Add onions, sauté for 2-5 minutes.

10)  Add salt

1)      Add rice and dal mixture, and cook for 5 minutes.

2)      Add 2 cups saved water.

3)      Cover, and bring to boil.

4)      Low heat, and let simmer for 15 minutes.

5)      Garnish wth cilantro.

6)      Serve with saar.
