Pulav
( pulaava )
Ingredients:
1)
Soak rice in water for
½ hour.
2)
Completely rain rice
and save water.
3)
Melt butter in a deep,
copper bottom pot.
4)
When simmering, add bay
leaves, cloves, cardamom, cumin seeds and cinnamon sticks.
5)
Add a dash of turmeric
( for a yellow color ).
6)
Add well drained,
almost dry rice, and sauté for 5 minutes.
7)
Add cashews, stir for
another few minutes.
1)
Heat 2 cups of saved
water to almost boiling in separate container.
2)
Add water to rice
mixture.
3)
Stir and cover.
4)
Bring to boil.
5)
Turn to low heat, and
let simmer for 10 minutes.
6)
Turn off heat.
7)
Chop cilantro and
garnish.
8)
In a separate pan, cut
onions, sauté and garnish.
